Foundation Fighting Blindness
The mission of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Inc. is to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, Usher syndrome, and the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases.
They have huge fundraising efforts, the biggest of which is an annual Vision Walk, and they organize a Visions conference annually which is one-stop-shopping for all the resources you could ever look for. There are also local chapters that host support groups, and countless networking events. Message boards, blogs, and active social medai.
VISIONS
Mission is to develop and implement programs to assist people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired to lead independent and active lives in their homes and communities, and educate the public to understand the capabilities and needs of people who are blind or visually impaired so that they may be integrated into all aspects of community life.
They provide FREE services to children & youth, adults and seniors, including rehabilitation, employment and caregiver support services,
Andrew Heiskell Braille and Talking Book Library
The Library provides talking books and magazines and braille for people who are blind, visually impaired, or are otherwise physically unable to read standard print. The library serves residents who live in New York City and Long Island.

They connect families to knowledge and support; in the business world, they guide the creation of more accessible product; they offer publications and eLearning courses to educate professionals in the field; their advocacy helps make landmark legislation like the Americans with Disabilities Act a reality.
